‘Miss Blue Jeans,’ an Oulu-based high school movie, will premier in Oulu on 26th July.

Known in Finnish as ‘Miss Farkku Suomi,’ the film will go on general release in Finland on 3rd August. Set in the 1970s, it focuses on how the ‘emerging city culture’ in the then small northern town meets with the area’s rural and religious spirit.

This theme is explored through a love-story, a romance between two teenagers. Seventeen year-old Väde falls in love with Pike, the most beautiful girl in his class. And the film looks at the power of this love as well as the effect of the Punk scene on the previously quiet town.

According to its producers, the film has a ‘special relationship’ with Oulu because the script-writer Kauko Röyhkä, director Matti Kinnunen, and the producers were all born and raised in the city and remember how life was in Oulu in the 1970s.
