According to police reports, Christmas Day night was relatively peaceful in Oulu apart from a few police calls about noise disturbance and people being drunk and disorderly.

Boxing Day was marred by the report of a rape. A man of about twenty was arrested the following the day. The suspected rape happened in a bedsit in the Toppila area and this was how the police were able to track the suspect down.
