ImageOtto Karhi Park, in the town centre, is to be renovated and renewed over the next few years. Plans have already begun and Oulu residents will get to have a say in the process.

The renovations are scheduled to be completed in 2011 or 2012. There will be no major changes to the parks features such as its Grilli but there are provisional plans to construct a rockery.

The safety of the park is also an issue and the planners propose to improve lighting and general visibility. The park is frequently used and is an important route connecting the city centre to the outlying suburbs by foot and bicycle.

The area of the park near the taxi rank has been ear-marked provisionally for the construction of a rockery. The idea is that the taxi station and the rocky area by combined into one building.

The Grilli will remain and planners also intend to open a café in the park.
