A 30-year-old Oulu man fled from the police in a dramatic car chase on Friday evening in which he tore the wrong way up a one-way street.

The police received a phone call about a suspected drunk driver in Limingantulli. When police spotted the vehicle the driver started speeding away as fast as he could. The driver sped through the city causing tremendous danger to other drivers.   He drove the wrong way up the road on at least one one-way-street and also used the sped along the pavements. The drunk driver hit several traffic signs and at least one parked car, knocking off its side mirror. The police finally caught up with the reckless driver in Tuira where he drove off the road on the turn-off to Kuusamontie. He was taken to hospital for a check-up and when breathalysed he was well over the legal limit.
