Kaleva has reported another dog theft in Oulu. A valuable Karelian Bear Dog was stolen from its locked cage in the owner’s yard last Saturday in broad daylight. Two days later the dog was found by chance running loose near the university hospital. It was in good condition and had obviously been looked after by the person involved.

The theft took place in Kastelli between 12pm and 4pm. Based on evidence found nearby the police thought it possible that the thief had been waiting around for the right moment to take the dog.  The dog is a valuable show and hunting dog.

The owner of the dog suspects that it may have been the publicity in Kaleva surrounding the theft that scared the thief in the end into releasing the dog. He also thanks all people who helped him search for the family dog all over Oulu. According to police, a few valuable dogs are stolen in Oulu every year.
