A long distance skating track is now open on Lämsänjärvi. The ice skating track follows the edge of the lake.
Mika Puolitaival of the City of Oulu’s sports department says that the track has been opened this week and is ready for use. It will also be maintained by the council. Puolitaival says that the thickness of ice is now circa 30cm and therefore safe to go on. Skating on a lake track is challenging though. There are no lights for late skaters and the surface of the ice is never as smooth as on an ice rink. (Kaleva)
