Photo by Sandra Grötsch For the second time in Oulu a horse fair took place on the market place, October 15 th.
Neither wind nor occasional rain kept people away from having a look at
an animal that was man’s best friend almost as long as dogs were.
Unfortunately there weren’t any horses to buy directly, but interested
future horse owners could check what was available from various
photographs. Nevertheless, some nice examples of the species were
present at the market and most of them willing to let the on-lookers
have a very close look.
Photo by Sandra Grötsch The times when horses were
peoples’ partners at work are gone, but in sports and hobbies the
four-hoofer is gaining popularity every year. It is not only girls who
are crazy about horses – more and more men find their way to the
stables and enjoy quality time on horseback. The important and
necessary equipment was available at different stalls on the market
square.
Connected to horses, the care for them and their
commercial use are a couple of professions that can be learned in the
region of Oulu. Such training institutions used the occasion to
advertise their career opportunities. Young people especially, showed
interest in these options for their future profession.
Hopefully next year the sun will shine for a bigger display of marvellous horses.
