On Thursday, May 31st, from 19.00-21.00, Oulu International Rotary Club (OIRC) will be hosting a charity concert to raise much-needed funding for Oulu Reception Centre. The concert will be held at Nukuteatteri and tickets will cost 10 euros.

The OIRC – which has only recently started its work in Oulu – has a particular mission to foster intercultural communication and support on both local and international levels, and this concert represents the first in an occasional series aimed at improving connections between foreigners living and working in the City and the local ‘oululaiset’.

The theme of the concert will be ‘Music and Migration’, the music will be from the British Isles and Celtic fringe, and the show will feature members of local Irish bands ‘The Soap Pig’ and ‘Cascade’:  who will be singing and performing on Scottish and Irish bagpipes, fiddles, whistles, guitars and the traditional Irish drum.

‘All are very welcome,’ smiled Anthony Johnson, the chairman of OIRC’s cultural section, ‘it should be a lot of fun.’
