A note on the upcoming Wappu events
If you want to catch up on the events on Wappu, Mirja Krause summarized the events for the next two days for you shortly.
Tomorrow, April 30th, you should not miss out on the Wappu Parade which starts at 12:00 from the Åström park. At 14:00 the first year students of technical faculty will be baptized by dipping into the river near the PSOAS office. This is a real student gathering. So bring your beer and a plastic bag to sit on and enjoy watching the others sliding into the cold water, while you dont have to get wet.
In the evening, starting at 22:00, the student party takes place at Radisson SAS, tickets 8/10 e.
On stage will be the cover band Overtone.
Dont forget to wear your overall if you have one.
1st May, WAPPU starts already at 03:33.33 with singing students at the railway station and continues at 04:30 when the first year students are going to receive their Teekkari Caps at the ravintola Rauhala close to the PSOAS office. At 05:00 the first year students will be reborn as teekari and there will be Sillis, a breakfast, which can be purchased for a couple of euros. At 09:00 “Champagne Matinee" starts, the outdoor breakfast at the Linnansaari. It is a bring what you drink breakfast. And if you are still awake you should go see the Wappu concert of the Teekkaritorvet at Rotuaari at 14:00 and of course the cremation of the fuksi cap’s at Teekaritalo at 18:00.
And last, but not least, there is the waterbus (vesibussi). The bus cruises between the city and Linanmaa. At even hours the bus stopps at the market square close to the market hall and at odd hours at the university's buss stop. The vesibussi is providing transportation between 13:00-24:00,tickets 2e/hour. The money goes to UNICEF. It is worth taking a ride on the bus. It has a fully funktional sound system and rumours say that everything is allowed on the bus except talking to or disturbing the driver.
