The Expatriate Family Adjustment (EFA) project have announced a photography competition entitled “My Favourite Place in Oulu.”  Send them a photograph of an Oulu activity or place by January 15 2007 and you stand to win publication in an Oulu 2007 calendar, as well as a copy of the Aava Book illustrated guidebook Finland, A Cultural Guide.

Judges for the competition include 65 Degrees North editor Ata Bos and local painter Petra Kamina-Mosher, whose solo exhibit ‘Whorl’ recently showed at Oulu’s International Activity Centre Toppelius.

They will accept photos taken anywhere in the county of Oulu, but ask photographers not to submit ‘tourist snapshots.’

Entries should be one photograph print in colour or black and white, up to 20x30 cm in size, or a digital image file. Entries should include a short description of the photographer’s background, the subject, and why the subject was chosen.
