Two films by budding Oulu movie-makers are to be screened as part of of Finland’s 25th International Children’s Film Festival.

The competition, which is happening on Oulu between the 13th and 19th November, will feature films by Oulu film-makers, aimed at children, as well as those from other Nordic countries.

After Twenty-five years, local films still play a significant part in the festival, according to Pentti Kejonen, who has kicked off the anniversary showcase.

There are another three Nordic contenders for the €3,000 ‘Star Boy’ grand prize: Danish director Niels Arden Oplev’s Drømmen (We shall overcome), Kasper Barfoed’s Tempelriddernes skat (The Lost Treasure of the Knights Templar), and Norwegian director Arild Fröhlich’s Pitbullterje (Pitbull Terje).

The festival also features short films made by children themselves. The Children's Film Festival in Oulu has established itself over the years as a respected fixture amongst Europe’s many movie festivals.
