The Sanginjoki nature recreation area is located approximately 15 km from the centre Oulu. Sanginjoki offers three nature trails of 5, 2 and 10 km distances. It is possible to combine the trails into a round trip of 15 km. ![]() Sanginjoki Map Kalime trail / Kalimeenpolku The Kalime trail is a round trip of 5 km through a landscape of woods, swamps, a lake and a river. Over wet sites the trail is on wooden walkways. ![]() Photo by Antje Neumann When following the trail of the Kalime roundtrip clockwise, you will reach the first shelter and fireplace after a few minute’s walk. It is situated close to a small river in lovely surroundings. The trail continues through woods and swamps to the lake of Kalime (Kalimeenlampi). On its shore there are two other shelters and fireplaces offering a good view of the lake. When continuing you will reach the cross points with the two other trails on the way back to the car park. To get to the starting point for the trail, you follow the road to Sanginjoki about 10 kilometres before turning left (immediately after a wooden house) onto a sandy road. Soon you reach a crossing and turn left following the sign “riistapolku”. The road then bends to the right and leads straight to the car park. At around the half-way point there is a shelter and fireplace on the shore of a small lake named Korpilampi. The trail leads around the lake and back to the parking lot.
