One in five public sector employees encountered violence doing their job last year.

According to a survey by the Finnish Centre for Occupational Safety, more than half of healthcare workers and a third of social workers have seen their colleagues assaulted or threatened with violence.

The survey polled 700 council staff last autumn.

Nobody from the Centre for Occupational Safety could be reached for further comment.
