The City of Oulu has radically overhauled its English-language pages in the hope of making them easier to use for immigrants and expats.

'The biggest change is the way the content has been grouped under 14 main headings using a municipality-based categorisation,' claims the city's communications officer Martti Holma. 'It was created to make it easier for the city residents to find relevant information and take care of pressing matters.'

'In addition to the resident services, links to four theme pages relating to the City of Oulu are highlighted on the main page,' explained the official. 'The four themes are Visit Oulu, Study in Oulu, Business Oulu and Oulu Inspires.'

The new pages are otherwise similar to before and continue to include a greeting from the city's mayor, information on libraries and schools and advertisements for city-run, English-language courses such as 'Training to be an Entrepreneur in English.' The English webpage also has a new address - www.oulu.com - to distinguish it from the city's Finnish-language webpages.
