Angry Needlework Teachers to Strike Back! Print E-mail
By News
Wednesday, 16 September 2009

The city's needlework teachers will be knitting a strong protest against cutbacks at the Rotuaari ball on Saturday.

ImageThe teachers will knit their 'graffiti petition' to oppose what they see as the gradual side-lining of their subject in the city's schools.

According to protesters, professional needlework teachers are becoming more and more scarce in Oulu. When they retire, they are not replaced by other professional needlework teachers but just by part-time, non-professionals who come in and show the pupils the basics of their craft.

Their protest will be knitted between 11am and 2pm.
