An Oulu man, who had recently returned from the USA, was confirmed as having swine flu on Sunday bringing to 25 the number of confirmed cases in Finland.

According to the Ministry of Health, four cases were also reported on Thursday and three cases were reported on Friday. All those who have fallen ill with the H1N1 strain of flu had recently returned from the USA. They have been quarantined quickly and there has not yet been a case of H1N1 amongst people who have not travelled to infected areas. No further details about these cases have been made publicly available.

Infections have arrived in Finland not only from the USA but from Mexico (where the outbreak began), Hong Kong and Australia. In addition to these countries, the Ministry of Health urges anyone who has recently returned from Canada or Chile to monitor their health for a week after return and report any flu-like symptoms to a doctor as soon as possible.
